Description

The National Economic Outlook Conference (NEOC) 2023 is MIER’s high-profile premier year-end event which returns after a hiatus of four years. The NEOC will be looking to the future to build a better and more prosperous Malaysia in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic.

.
According to a United Nations report, the world economy is projected to grow at 2.5% in 2024, which is a slight improvement over the global growth forecast for 2023. However, the world economy is at a risk of a prolonged period of sluggish growth due to the lingering aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as unaddressed macroeconomic structural challenges. Thus, it is necessary for Malaysia to identify clear policy options and priorities to set the right foot for 2024.

The conference has five main focal areas: the global economic crisis, digital economy, artificial intelligence, green economy, and social protection. NEOC 2023 is a platform where more than 30 experts from diverse fields convene (both in-person and virtually) to discuss current topics and the outlook of the Malaysian economy in 2024.

The NEOC brings together experts from across the region to delve into insights on the global economy, technology, environment, social welfare and policies that are necessary for this region. Participants will have physical networking opportunities to build connections and explore potential collaborations across sectors and to develop a better understanding so as to navigate an increasingly complex strategic landscape.

NEOC 2023 offers an excellent opportunity to facilitate knowledge sharing and the dissemination of ideas through open dialogue.

The NEOC 2023 will be held at the auditorium Menara AFFIN@TRX Kuala Lumpur on 27th – 28th November 2023
